1.1 ID check

1)Q:“Good morning/ good afternoon. My name‘s X。 Can you tell me your full name, please?

2)Q: “What can I call you?”

3)Q: “Can you tell me where you’re from?”;

4)Q: “Can I see your identification, please?”

?Q: “Good morning/ good afternoon. My name‘s X。 Can you tell me your full name, please?“

a) 不要说“Good morning, Mr. John.”。 比较合适的回答是:“Good morning, John.(留意考官的名字) My name is Yang Yimin but I go by Catherine.(如果你有英文名,其实没有也可以去一个呀!go by 会给你加好多好多分的,go by 是个地道表达,这句话的意思就是“我叫杨伊敏,但是我比较喜欢被人称呼我为Catherine”)”

d) 不要说“Yang is my family name and Yiming is my given name。”。

?Q: “What can I call you?”

c) 不要说“You may call me Robert。” 可以说:“Please call me Robert。”或是 “ You can call me Robert。”

d) 不要说“All my friends call me Robert”。

?Q:“Can you tell me where you’re from?”

a) 这个问题实际上等同于“Please tell me where you’re from。”

c) 千万不要说:“I came from Changsha, Hunan Province。” 不要说:“I come from Changsha, which belongs to Hunan Province。

?Q: “Could I see your identification, please?”

c) 千万不要说:“Here you go。” or, “There you go。”

或者是 “Of course。 Here you are。” 一般而言,在餐厅吃饭的时候顾客问“Could I have a menu, please?” Here you are。”

?Q:How was your family dinner on this?

雅思口语part2 Describe a piece of clothing you enjoy wearing

You should say:

Where you bought it

How often you wear it

What it is like

And explain why you enjoy wearing it

Part 3

What’s the difference between the dressing style of young people and that of old people?

Do the people living in south China (warmer) wear different clothes from the people living in the north (colder)?

Do you think students like to wear uniforms?

When do people wear formal clothes?

Well, I would like to tell you about a pair of ripped jeans that are my favorite item among all the things I have in my wardrobe.

You know, I bought them for an unbelievably cheap price a long time ago in a second-hand clothing store. At that point, ripped jeans were really popular and everybody in my school was keen on them. So, whenever I put these jeans on, I felt really stylish and thought I really stood out from the crowd. After a while though, trends started to change, but I refused to abandon my jeans. I wore them almost everywhere, from home to school and only changed them for formal events such as a ceremony or a wedding. Sometimes I even slept in my jeans because they were so comfortable.

Actually, it is quite easy to understand why I fancy these jeans so much. Firstly, they instantly create a stylish and fashionable look for the wearer. Secondly, jeans are easy to mix and match and I can wear them with heaps of different shirts without worrying about looking ridiculous in other people’s eyes. And lastly, denim is so tough that it can’t be torn, so I can have them for a long time and save a great deal of money.

All in all, I love my jeans and cannot get through a day without them. I think such an item should be made trendy again so that the youngsters nowadays can really get to know their awesomeness.

What’s the difference between the dressing style of young people and that of old people?

Older people are often uninterested in fashion and more interested in what looks good on them or what is comfortable. They want you to say “you look very nice” rather than “that is a nice outfit”. They often find the idea of “fashion” a manipulaton to make people buy more stuff.

Fashion is for the young. Older people already have a full closet of things they like.

Do the people living in south China (warmer) wear different clothes from the people living in the north (colder)?

Do you think students like to wear uniforms?

The vast majority of kids don't want to wear school uniforms. The reasons why kids don't want to wear school uniforms are diverse, from School Uniforms Are Ugly,Uniforms Aren't Flattering to School Uniforms Restrict Individuality.

When do people wear formal clothes?

Describe a piece of clothing you enjoy wearing

You should say:

Where you bought it

How often you wear it

What it is like

And explain why you enjoy wearing it

Different people have different opinions. Some believe... while others hold...

例如,“She works in an old office”听起来的发音应该是“She work-si-na-nol-doffice.”

You should say:

What the change was

When and where this change happened

What caused this change

And explain how you benefited from this change.

Part 3

Describe a positive change that you made to your life.

You should say:

when it happened

where it happened

what the change was

and explain how you have benefited from this change

( or, explain how you feel about this change)

The positive change that I would like to talk about is ‘I started playing outdoor games instead ofplaying computer games’. After I got my first personal computer when I was only 9 years old orso, I started learning many things. Besides that I started playing the computer games. Ascomputer games are addictive I found that I was playing the games whenever I had spare times. This addiction barred me from playing outdoor games like cricket, football etc.

I found myself very much attracted to the computer games and I preferred to play the games athome instead of going to open spaces or fields to participate in outdoor games that involvephysical exercises. Not that computer games are all so bad, but playing them all the timesomeone has got is not a good thing especially for kids. I found that I was spending more timesat home than being outside. After my parents noticed that, they discussed with me about thatand explained me the importance of outdoor activities. They gave me strict restriction that Iwould only be able to play computer games for an hour daily and in the evening I’d have to gooutside to play with my friends.

This was obviously a very positive change for me. I’m not against computer games but I feel thatif there are more important things to do, then we should not spend time on computer games only. This change affected me very positively. I became a good cricket player later on, I startedmaintaining my times more prudently and I am sure this change has affected me positively interms of physical and mental health.

Describe a positive change that you have made to your life.

You should say:

what the change was

when it happened

where it happened

and explain how you have benefited from this change

Ok, well the positive change which I would like to tell you about was actually a pretty simple one, but it's improved my life a great deal, and basically all it was, was getting up an hour earlier every day.

The reason I started doing it was because it got to the point where my whole day was taken up with various stuff, like classes and homework, and I found that I hardly had any free time left. So I kind of realized that the only way to make more time for myself was to get up earlier, and so that's what I decided to do. It wasn't easy at first, especially when it was cold, but thankfully it got a lot easier, and now I find it no effort at all getting out of bed at five in the morning,

Anyway, as for when I first started doing this, well, I guess it must have probably been about two or three years ago, round about the time I was busy preparing for my university entrance exams, and I was getting up at something like five or six every morning to revise. And after my exams finished, I remember thinking to myself, wouldn't it be good to continue getting up early and have all this extra time to do things at the beginning of the day.

So that's pretty much how it all started, and finally, with regard to how I've benefited from this change, well to put it simply, I'd say I've benefited immensely, in more ways than one. For example, it's given me time to do a bit of exercise every day, which I didn't use to have time for. So now I've become a lot fitter. And as well as this, I also now have the time to eat a proper breakfast every day, instead of skipping it, like I used to do, so I've basically become much healthier as a result.

That's more or less everything, I guess, so thanks very much for listening.

Notes:

it got to the point where... 的地步

taken up - 被占据

I find it no effort at all - 我现在觉得一点都不费劲

如果被问到an occasion when you changed your plan,怎么回答呢?

This topic reminds me of the time I changed my mind about what I want to do in the future. Here’s what happened.

I’d always wanted to be a teacher when I was little, ‘cause I used to think teachers know everything and it’s the coolest job in the whole wide world. And teachers are highly respected by others.

However, I had a change of mind when I was in high school. At that time, my grandpa was diagnosed with terminal cancer. And he went to all of the hospitals in my hometown, but things didn’t get any better. We were told that there was only 3 months left for him. So in the end, we went to Beijing, and made an appointment with a famed doctor. He treated my grandpa with the most advanced medical technique and drugs that just came on the market. And miraculously, my grandpa lived 5 more years because of this doctor and his excellent team. I am so grateful to the doctor for everything he did for my family.

So from that moment on, I decided that I would be a doctor in the future. It’s a rewarding and fulfilling job. Doctors give people hope, and they comfort patients and their family when they are so desperate.

“Sorry, I don’t understand this word’

‘Sorry, what does this word mean, please?’

‘Sorry, can you repeat the question please?’

‘Could you say that again please?’

‘Sorry, I didn’t get the question. Could you say it in a different way?’

‘Sorry, I don’t really understand what you mean. Can you explain the question, please?’.

‘“I’m afraid that I’m not quite familiar with this topic, but I guess…”,

“Sorry, I’m not sure about how to answer that, but…”.
